Campaigns

Quick answers to the most common questions about the Marketing › Campaigns section, where you build and send email campaigns, manage subscribers, and run signup popups.

What can I do with Campaigns?

  • Send email campaigns to your subscribers with a visual block editor (no HTML required).

  • Manage subscribers through lists you create (General, Promo, VIP, and so on).

  • Capture new subscribers with popups on your storefront.

  • Track results through open rate, click rate, unsubscribes, bounces, and revenue per campaign.

The dashboard at Marketing › Campaigns › Dashboard gives you a snapshot of everything: total subscribers, campaigns sent, lists, opens, and revenue.

How do I create and send a campaign?

  1. Go to Marketing › Campaigns › Campaigns and click Create Campaign.

  2. Enter the email subject at the top.

  3. Build your email by clicking Add Content Block and choosing block types (text, image, button, product, and so on).

  4. Confirm the Campaign Details at the bottom (from name, from email, reply-to).

  5. On the right, choose Select Lists to pick who receives it.

  6. To send immediately, leave Send Now on and click Create Campaign. To schedule, turn the toggle off and pick a date and time.

Click Preview at any point to see what your subscribers will see.

What is a list?

A list is a group of subscribers. Most stores have at least:

  • General for everyone who opted in.

  • Promo for customers who want sale alerts.

  • WooCommerce for buyers (auto-populated when customers check the marketing opt-in at checkout).

You can create more for any segment you want, like "VIP buyers" or "Wholesale". Manage lists at Marketing › Campaigns › Lists.

How do people subscribe to my lists?

Three ways:

  • Checkout opt-in. Customers who check the marketing consent box at checkout are added to the WooCommerce list automatically.

  • Popups. Build a popup at Marketing › Campaigns › Popups that appears on your storefront (welcome offer, exit intent, and so on). When someone enters their email, they go into the list you connect to that popup.

  • Manual add. Go to Marketing › Campaigns › Subscribers and click Add New. Use this for offline signups or imports.

What are popups for?

Popups are signup forms that appear over your storefront to capture emails. Each popup is connected to a list, so anyone who subscribes goes into that list.

Common uses:

  • A welcome "10% off your first order" form.

  • An exit-intent form that fires when someone tries to leave.

  • An announcement for an upcoming event or sale.

Build and toggle them on or off at Marketing › Campaigns › Popups. Active popups show on the storefront, inactive ones do not.

How do I see if my campaigns are working?

Each campaign in Marketing › Campaigns › Campaigns shows:

  • Opened (open rate)

  • Clicked (click-through rate)

  • Bounced (emails that did not arrive)

  • Unsubscribed (people who opted out)

  • Revenue (orders attributed to clicks from this email)

The dashboard rolls everything up across all campaigns. A healthy open rate is usually 20% to 35% in retail, depending on your audience.

Why is my open rate low?

The most common causes:

  • Subject line is weak. Test 2 to 3 subject lines until you find what works.

  • List has stale emails. Bounce rate above 2% drags everything down. Clean inactive subscribers.

  • Sent at a bad time. Try mid-morning Tuesday to Thursday for retail.

  • Landing in spam. If many recipients are on the same email provider and complaining, deliverability drops. Send to engaged subscribers first.

What happens when someone unsubscribes?

They are removed from all your lists automatically and will not receive future campaigns. Every email you send includes the legally required unsubscribe link at the bottom.

You can see who unsubscribed in Marketing › Campaigns › Subscribers by filtering status. You cannot re-subscribe someone manually who has opted out, they have to subscribe again themselves.

Can I send to more than one list at once?

Yes. In the Select Lists field on the campaign editor, pick multiple lists. The system deduplicates so a subscriber on two lists only gets one copy.
