Variations let you sell one product in several options, such as different colors, calibers, or barrel lengths, each with its own price, stock, and SKU. Set them up on the product in Store › Products.
Step 1: Make the product variable
Open the product, and in the Product data dropdown choose Variable product.
Step 2: Add an attribute
Open the Attributes tab. Add the attribute that defines the options, for example "Color" or "Caliber", and enter its values separated by a pipe, like Black | Brown | Grey. Check Used for variations and save.
Step 3: Create the variations
Open the Variations tab. Click Generate variations to create one for every option, or Add manually to build them one at a time. Each variation appears as its own row.
Step 4: Set details per variation
Click a variation to expand it and set its price, sale price, stock, SKU, image, and weight. Only the fields that differ from the parent need values.
Tips
Set a Default Form Value so a sensible option is preselected on the product page.
Give each variation its own SKU so inventory and reporting stay accurate.
Leave a variation out of stock rather than deleting it if the option is temporarily unavailable.
